I've used leadership and management interchangeably but there is a big difference. A manager is someone who directs the actions of a group to achieve certain goals. A leader imparts a vision, convinces the group to commit to the goals, leaves them execute as they see fit, and intervenes to remove obstacles to their success. I can't remember where I heard it, but this expression sums it up: "A leader is someone you'll follow, if only out of curiosity."
