If you want some fun, try googling 'office romance'. Just about every hit says it's a bad idea, but it can't be avoided. Some people today are spending 10-12 hours a day, 6 days a week at work. And if you work at Google, Facebook or companies with similar cultures, you never have to go home even to shower or do laundry. So your work environment might be like a cruise ship (where casual and serious hookups are encouraged) or like a submarine (where understand hookups are frowned upon).
Be aware that some companies take office relationships very seriously - - especially big companies. They know they can't prevent them, but to protect themselves they will reserve the right to reassign, relocate, or fire one or both of the employees if they think the relationship is interfering with the company's business or is creating a potential liability to the company (like charges of a hostile work environment). If your employee manual has a section on employee relationships, read it. Don't expect a lot of tolerance here.
