When I started at Scient I was the third executive hired, after the Founder and CEO. I was hired with the lofty title of Chief Knowledge Officer and my job was to create infrastructure for acquiring and maintaining the knowledge that our consultants would use to build our clients' ebusinesses. That's a full time job. On the day I started the Founder said "Could you also be the Chief Technology Officer and Human Resources Head until we can fill those positions?" Of course. Since there are never enough people or time, you better expect to fill in any gaps where you have expertise (and maybe in places where you don't have expertise like me and Human Resources).
